On World Environment Day, interns from the PSM department of LNCT, posted at both the Urban Health Training Centre and Rural Health Training Centre, organized a meaningful activity to raise awareness about the environment. The event aimed to emphasize the significance of nurturing and preserving urban green spaces. Esteemed faculty members and students enthusiastically participated in this initiative.
The participants engaged in planting a variety of saplings and seeds, focusing on species that promote biodiversity and environmental well-being. Among these were Mango saplings, prized for their longevity and fruit production, Flowering plants, which add beauty and support pollinators, Artillery saplings, known for their fast growth and resilience, and Lichi seeds, valued for their nutritious fruit and role in agroforestry.
Following the planting activity, a brief but informative session was conducted on “How to Save & Nurture Plants.” The discussion covered essential practices like regular watering, proper soil management, the importance of sunlight, and safeguarding plants from pests. The aim was to equip participants with practical knowledge to ensure the healthy development of the planted greenery.
This initiative not only encouraged a sense of community and environmental responsibility but also provided a learning opportunity for the medical professionals involved. By integrating ecological awareness with their medical training, the participants highlighted the vital connection between health and a sustainable environment. The event concluded with a renewed commitment to continue such green initiatives, emphasizing the role of healthcare professionals in advocating for a healthier planet.
