World TB Day, celebrated annually on March 24th, was observed on March 22nd this year due to it falling on a Sunday. On this occasion, interns organized an informative Nukkad Natak at the hospital premises to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB). They discussed the signs, symptoms, diagnosis, and proper treatment, including the Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTs) regimen. Moreover, they highlighted the importance of the Nikshay portal and various government schemes aimed at combating TB.
The event aimed to sensitize the local community, attendants, students, and hospital staff about TB prevention and management. The presence of our esteemed Dean, Dr. Sadhana Sanwatsarkar, added significance to the occasion. Faculty members from the Department of Community Medicine, including Dr. Neelima, Dr. Chetan, Dr. Neetu, Dr. Manish, Mr. Kamlendra, and MSW Miss Upama, also attended the event to show their support.
The entire event was expertly coordinated by Professor and Head of the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM), Dr. Sonia Tiwari. Such initiatives play a crucial role in spreading awareness about TB and fostering a healthier community.
